Mothers That Rock by Dunja

So this is going to sound very nerdy, but when I was pregnant I saw some photos of Gwen Stefani with her two boys and thought ‘Ah, there we go, that’s gonna be me!’. She had a cute outfit on, heels as always, and even the boys looked so cool! They all looked so In sync with each other.  I always thought Gwen made parenthood look so vastly different to the ‘pink frilly baby clothes/Thomas the tank engine tops and cardies and practical jeans’ vibe you tend to see in films or even down in the playground.  On the other hand, she still doesn’t look like the type of mum who puts heron vanity before her children. She mixes it up in her own unique style of parenting. She definitely made me think I could still be myself after I had kids, that I didn’t need to sacrifice my identity to define myself as a ‘good mother’. I also thought I’d include a few quotes of Gwen’s that stuck with me, I just love the humour and naked honesty in each one!

– Everyday I fail at something (on being a working mum)

– I was thinking that when I have children, that I should always dress as a character for them, so they think they’re mum is Alice in Wonderland or Cinderella. It would be totally messed up!

– A miracle… My biggest accomplishment is my marriage so far. Because it’s hard, everyone knows it’s hard.

– My husband really loves the red lipstick, so I keep the red because I want to keep the husband

– The one thing that makes me super happy about my financial success is that I have a housekeeper I love this girl!
