Best advice on parenting is to ignore any negative comments. From quite early on people love to give opinions, even if they aren’t parents themselves!

I am lucky that my job is relatively easy and it actually feels like a break going to work but juggling childcare and making sure they have everything they need for each day can take planning. I’m a list maker. It is important to also make time for yourself, even just having a coffee in peace and you shouldn’t feel guilty for doing that.

My favourite meal to cook is anything my husband makes as he’s a great cook! But he is Spanish so we all love the Spanish influence of Paella or Tortilla.

The 3 items I always have in my bag are water, snacks and wipes. Now they are both out of nappies a change of clothes comes in handy when out and about too.

I would say my parenting style is pretty chilled, I trust my instinct but I’m not overprotective or fussy but they know who’s in charge.

The hardest part of motherhood is how it changes your relationships with other people. Husband, family members, friends with and without children but also time management which is why it’s so important to look after yourself and not feel guilty.

The best part is obviously seeing them grow into lovely little humans and being so proud of them. It is hard work but very rewarding.

I can’t think of any better representation of beauty, chic and stylish than Mrs Ellis. Meet mama to Lenny and stylist Sarah Tankel Ellis.

what is the best advice you have been given on parenting? Everything is a phase! It really is true, I am wowed by the constant changes of my tiny little man!
How do you great balance between work and motherhood? Organisation is key… I have set days and times to do everything otherwise I would be a complete mess! And also a very supportive family who help me out so much.
what is your favourite meal to cook for the family? Sadly cooking isn’t my strongest skill but there’s nothing I love more than having my family over for a traditional friday night dinner. Chicken soup, roast chicken the lot!
what three items do you always have in your bag when out with your kids? Water wipes, lots of nappies & his favourite robot toy!
How would you describe your parenting style? Hands on & routined is what’s worked best for us. I love our daily schedule which is full of lots of play time & also sleep time!

what have you found to be the hardest part of your motherhood journey? For me it was the anxiety which I felt after giving birth, I literally had no clue what I was doing & after a difficult labour & an emergency caesarian I felt like a total mess but it’s amazing how your motherly instincts take over and you muddle through those early stages. Each day you learn so much & it gets that little bit easier.

what is the best part of motherhood? Everything! I’ve found it so hard but so rewarding at the same time, I love watching his daily developments and his personality taking shape. I never knew you I could love a little thing so much but Lenny has completed me & being a Mummy is the best thing in the world.

Parenting advice: “it’s a phase.” It’s so true! And it makes me realize however difficult something is at the time, it will pass.

The balance between work and motherhood is constantly changing. I often feel like I’m doing better in one than the other but it swaps. I try to only work 3-4 days a week. And I try to also be kind to myself. I never chase perfection. most days I am trying my hardest. And other days I’m too knackered to worry about it
Fave meal I cook: we don’t often get a chance to all eat as a family but sometimes at the wkend, we all have lunch together. I like to cook soup and bake soda bread in the winter. In summer I like to eat in the garden and make salads and hummus and quiche. I love our big kitchen-diner it’s my fave place in the house ❤️
3 items in bag for kids: SNACKS. Books. Wipes.

My parenting style is way too soft! I’m rubbish at sticking to rules which is prob why my kids constantly push the boundaries. I’m playful and silly. I like to make them laugh by dancing around the kitchen. Hopefully, I’m fun. And very affectionate.
The hardest part of motherhood is seeing my bad traits in my children. I’ve got a temper and they both have too (their dad is super laid back!) Mum guilt is real.
The best part of motherhood is that I feel complete. Just last night I was thinking that I have everything I could ever wish for right now: my children, my husband, a roof over my head, food in my belly. My health! I’ve always wanted a family of my own. It’s my destiny. They’ve taught me selflessness and gratitude. I’m welling up! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Base Formula – Essential Oil

I am obsessed with essential oils. My favourite being Lavender.  I use lavender as part of my bath time routine, I also love diffusing it and when I am feeling stressed I put a few drops in the palm of my hands and inhale it. Base formula stocks the highest quality oils this is why I get most of my oils from them. To build my immunity in the cold winter months I love diffusing base formulas bug buster essitial oils and having a bath with a few drops of my favourite oils. On my wish list for Santa, I have the base formula handmade soaps and a collection of their 100% pure, certified organic essential oils. Until next time xx
