I love this time of the year – anyone that knows me will tell you that I might have been one of Santa’s little helpers in a former life. I’ve been buying and wrapping presents since Halloween and the less said about my festive eating habits the better… I feel that having children makes this time even more special even more so now that my boys are beginning to understand all that Christmas is about (food and presents of course). Watching Carter in his first ever nativity and Christmas concerts are memories I will treasure forever. As much as the buying presents and eating are fun for me the most important part of Christmas is the time spent with family and friends; this time of the year reinforces just how grateful i am for my family. Lead up to christmas by Oreke xx
The up lead up to Christmas is a very exciting time at our home, to be honest we take every holiday very seriously but Christmas is the ultimate. A few things we look forward to:
The Christmas family movie- this year the one we are most looking forward to seeing is Paddington, it is produced by the producers of harry Potter so it in bond to be magical and it is based on the famous children’s books by Michael Bond.
Seeing Santa – The best way to get the boys to eat their vegetables at this time of the year is to remind them that santa is writing his list and if they want to be on his good list they need to eat all their green (always works, a mum has got to do what a mum has got to do)
Food glorious food – I think it is best to dedicate an entire entry on this as you all know my love of food is beyond.
Winter wonderland hydepark – this really is one of London’s best festive destination for the whole famly and it gets better each year.
Sweet Bea Cakes
Tis the season to be jolly… Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, I love everything about it, most importantly the time it gives us to enjoy our family and loved ones. For my family the holidays and celebrations start on the 1st of December -my little boy’s birthday. This year is his first birthday and for me a birthday isn’t a birthday without Cake. In fact for me any event is incomplete without at least a slice of cake, so I think I know what I’m talking about when it comes to all things cake. For my little boy’s first birthday I wanted the best of the best so I went on a cake hunt for something new and I got more than I bargained for, I found Sweet Bea’s Bakery by Lucia. Sweet Bea cakes are magical, so beautifully made and each mouthful just makes you happy. Jolly Rockers
Ok, so a rocking horse made me cry… Yes I burst into tears when one of Carter’s Christmas presents arrived : a rocking horse by Jolly Rockers. Here’s why:
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted a rocking horse. So now that I have kids of my own I can do that classic ‘parent transfers dreams onto kids thing’ so I made up my mind that Santa would get Carter a gorgeous rocking horse to go along with his (and Superman’s) boomerangs, helicopters and rugby stuff…
I chose Jolly Rockers because they are unique, beautiful and lovingly handmade by a truly inspiring mother whose story is just as wonderful as her fantastic horses. Debbie had our horse hand delivered by a strapping team consisting of her husband and son to ensure it reached us in time for Christmas. It was when we unwrapped Carter’s beautiful dapple brown and I realised how much he was going to love it too that the crying started, and I better go before it starts again.
